Oracle will release an e-mail and collaboration product later this year, which Oracle is positioning as more cost-effect, scalable, and feature-rich than Microsoft Exchange. The Oracle Collaboration Suite should provide technological competition to Microsoft Exchange and IBM’s Lotus Domino (particularly in the areas of enterprise search and document management). The company, however, faces an uphill battle trying to dislodge these entrenched market leaders.
